Dr. Melstrom graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry in 1974. He was the recipient of the Yale C. Knight Award. The honor is bestowed on a senior student for outstanding research in the field of visual science.
Dr. Melstrom has been in private practice in Cadillac since his graduation. He has been active in his community and most recently has just retired as a Trustee of the Cadillac-Wexford Public Library. His varied interests include skiing, sailing, horseback riding, antique boats, and Irish wolfhounds.
His legacy is his devotion to his wife Laurie, his four children, numerous horses, dogs, and certainly his very valued patients.
